Tuesday Tip: Get Organized


I had a friend that would put everything on a calendar. This was how she organized. If you weren't scheduled on her calendar it wasn't important or was in conflict with something else. This was how she organized and it worked for her. It is proven that what you organize, you have control over. My saying is, "You have to prioritize in order to be organized". Staying organized can help with being less overwhelmed and increase your productivity. These tips can help with work, school or at home as well as produce that time management skill. 

Here are some things you can do to get organized.
  1. Organize and tidy up your workspace. Before you start committing to being organized. Plus each day, tidy up afterwards.
  2. Write it down. Have a to-do list. This will help sort out some stuff.
  3. Sort of in order of priority. What projects need immediate attention first.
    1. If you are spending most of your time on one project, you may need to ask for help.
    2. Make sure you take breaks 👌👍
  4. Keep files together. For example, I have my business plans in a large binder, easily accessible. Use binders, trays, and labels if you have to. This will help to find things easier and quickly.
  5. Start your day with priority. For instance, check emails. What is important and needs attention now? 
  6. If there are important events or projects/reports due by certain dates, put them on a calendar and set a reminder. This can include birthdays too!
  7. Declutter: Also with being organized, most times you have to declutter. This can mean cleaning out old emails, old paperwork, notes that are no longer in use, old processes, and tasks that have been already done. 
    1. Personally, I use Outlook, use the flags to set reminders and get tasks done. Once complete I move it to a file I created or delete if no longer needed.
